CMC Schedule for Week of April 25th

The CMC building will be cancelling regular classes on Wednesday, April 27th for Senior Presentations from 9-3.

Thursday and Friday April 28-29th are furlough days for the district and CMC campus will be closed.

Cohort T1, T2, and CEO students are expected to attend their CCC classes as scheduled next week.

The shuttles from CMC to CCC's main campus will not be operating on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday April 27th-29th.

NCEF Scholarship for North Clackamas Seniors

Here is a great scholarship opportunity for district seniors...

North Clackamas Education Foundation (NCEF) provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors to continue their education at a regional college or accredited trade school of their choosing.

NCEF will accept scholarship applications from graduating seniors who meet the following guidelines:

Grade point average 2.5 or higher
Attending an accredited regional college or trade school
Scholarship will be used within one year of graduating
Applicant must have a valid Social Security number

Applications are due by May 2, 2011.

Graduation is June 6th! There is much to be done to get ready...

CAP AND GOWNS:

Seniors who are participating in the graduation ceremony should pick up their cap and gown ordering form at the front desk at CMC as soon as possible. Your cap and gown will be delivered to CMC after you send your order directly to them. The first deadline has already passed so please pick up your ordering form immediately and submit it by April 22nd to avoid late fees.

MANDATORY GRADUATION MEETING:

We will have mandatory meeting on Wednesday, April 20th at 6:00pm at CMC to cover all the details leading up to graduation.

SENIOR PRESENTATIONS:

On Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 9am to 3pm, graduating seniors who have finished their senior internship hours will be expected to present their projects and portfolios. Seniors must be ready to address the key points of their internship, their completed portfolio, and the product they created.

Please contact either Emily LeCompte at lecomptee@nclack.k12.or.us or me at renehank@nclack.k12.or.us to schedule your time slot on this day, Wednesday, April 27, 2011, when you will present your senior internship project and portfolio, and let either one of us know if you will be presenting a practice or a final version, or both.

PSAT Testing Day is October 13th

Attention CMC Sophomores and Juniors,

The PSAT is being administered nationally on Wednesday October 13th, 2010. The state pays for sophomores to take the test and we will be offering it to all sophomores at CMC on that day. No regular scheduled classes will be held at CMC but students in Cohorts 1 and 2 and CEO will be expected to attend CCC classes.

Students who take the PSAT during their junior (11th) grade year are eligible to enter into the National Merit Scholarship program. Juniors interested in taking the PSAT to try to qualify for National Merit Scholarship should contact their boundary high school this week to register and pay for the test. The test may cost $15-20 and should be paid by Friday, October 1st.

The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are to:

Receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
See how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.
Enter the competition for scholarships from NMSC (grade 11).
Help prepare for the SAT. You can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions you will see on the SAT.

Welcome Back Students!!!

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone in our new location! There are some important dates coming up this week and next that will help us start the year:

Monday, September 20th is our CMC Experience Day for all new students. Buses will be running from the district high schools on a normal schedule and our activities will go from 8:55-3:00pm.

Tuesday, September 21st is the first day for returning students and we will begin regular classes as well as some school-wide orientation activities. Cohort and CEO students who have classes onsite at CMC will begin on this day. (Including YTA, Senior Seminar, HE 249 and MTH 111)

There is a mandatory orientation for students and parents in Cohort Groups 1 and 2 on Tuesday night from 6-7 pm at CMC.

Thursday, September 23rd there will be an orientation meeting for students in the CEO (College Extended Options) program from 6-7pm at CMC.

Thursday 12:00-12:50 at Oregon City CCC in Family Resource Center (FRC) 117
